Not Winning the War on Drugs
Though progress has been made, our current strategy should be revisited and revamped. The pervasive drug trade is a detriment to stable and healthy economies and society.

Uribe Calls Pelosi's Bluff
President Uribe has been a steadfast ally of the US. Congress' refusal to pass the Colombian Free Trade Agreement is a disgrace.

The U.S. Role in a Mexico Assassination
Disturbing killings in Mexico should be of concern for American authorities. Illegal drug trafficking is an issue that transcends borders and must be addressed effectively.

Chávez’s Takeover Spree
It is time Mr. Chavez leaves his nationalizing agenda behind and allow the Venezuelan people to chose.

Better Roses Than Cocaine
There is no reason not to approve a free trade deal with Colombia that will help the nation fight drug trafficking.

Bogotá Eyes the Irish Model
Congress must pass the Colombian Free Trade Agreement. Not only does this affirm our commitment to Colombia, but also, it provides a modernization model for Latin America. The Irish example is Europe's success story; Colombia can be Latin America's economic pioneer.

Desperate Haitians nostalgic for dictators
Dictatorships in Latin America have provided stability, but what are the costs? Haiti shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic, which is a model for economic progress through democratization.

Opposition Party May Tone Down Radical Voice
This will definitely be interesting to watch. Mexico's internal politics have a direct correlation on its efficiency to deliver to its 108.7 million population and also work with the US on immigration.

Thais seize notorious arms-deal suspect
Capturing weapons suppliers is a critical component of defeating terrorism and religious/ethnic extremism. Perhaps what is most interesting is that the laptop that was recovered by Colombian forces after the killing of FARC commandant Raul Reyes led to this arrest.

Raúl Castro gives signals that Cuba will change
Let us remain cautiously hopeful of Cuba's new president. In the end, it is the interest of the freedom-deprieved Cuban people that must be taking into account.

Let Freedom Ring
What an exciting few days for freedom across the world. As the international community welcomes Kosovo, Pakistan had elections dealing a blow to the ruling party of President Musharraf and Fidel Castro stepped down as president of Cuba.

The man who insists he's the president of Mexico
Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador just needs to give up and stop his leftist rhetoric.
The article does a great job of pointing out that a more moderate crop of left-of-center governments are taking control in Latin America as opposed to the venomous socialist rhetoric of Venezuela's Chavez, Bolivia's Morales and Ecuador's Correa.

Two popular Mexican singers slain
The wave of violence that has swept Mexico is a direct result of increased prosecution of drug cartels. The Calderon administration has been aggressive in addressing this issue and deserves respect. A weak democracy is at stake, and the Mexican people do not deserve this.
